As a clinical social worker Rebecca’s goal is to create a secure, trusting and non-judgmental space where you can feel heard and accepted. Over the years Rebecca has worked extensively with children, youth and families involved in the child welfare system as well as families overcoming intimate partner abuse. Rebecca’s areas of expertise are trauma, attachment, and family conflict resolution. She works from an attachment and trauma-informed perspective. Rebecca is trained in EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) an 8 phase evidence-based therapy for the treatment of childhood as well as adult trauma and trauma related issues. She is a certified Triple P and Pathway trainer through Healthy Child Manitoba, for parents/caregivers experiencing behavior problems in their children. She is also a certified Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P) trainer. COS-P helps parents to learn ways to help their child organize their feelings, support their child’s exploration in the world, read and respond to child’s cues, promote a secure relationship with child, and so much more. COS-P is run over 8 sessions of approximately 1½ hours each. The material is aimed at parenting younger children (ages 0-8 yrs old) but the underlying principles apply to all parent-child relationships. Rebecca is accepting new clients starting in November on Wednesday evenings as well as some weekends.
